Book of the Month- Join me

John Haremza and Todd Smith both used to tell me that their check grew the more they read personal development.  As a busy mom, I thought “yeah sure, I’ll just add another task to my busy day”…. but after years of being frustrated of trying hard to make money from home and not seeing the kind of income they had, I thought I would try it. I had been sent, and bought, all kinds of great books, but I was too busy to read them. I would ‘skim’ them but to really get into the books would require adding a few hours extra to my day.

I was wrong.

What changed my mind was a thin book (my first critera on whether a book was ‘ready worthy’) called “The Slight Edge” and it changed my life. Seriously. Sounds cheesy but it is true. I realized I didn’t have to read the entire book in one sitting but I could spend a set amount of time and read a set number of pages every day… as long as I read every day.

So I started, 15 pages a day, everyday, no matter what. I then found a great change slowly starting to happen…. my business started to grow. My income started to grow…. and dang gone it, John and Todd were right!

I hope you join me. It will take only a few moments each day, but maybe engaging in some great conversation, holding yourself to our reading schedule, it may help you with your personal development journey.

So the first book I choose is found to the right. It was one of the first great books I read. John Maxwell is a staple of my collection and his book “The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader” is a fantastic read.  If you would like to join me, I ask you bookmark my blog, and come back to leave comments, ideas… just participate.

Here are the first six pages to get you started. You will have to find the book to read the rest. It is widely available at any bookstore or library, or if you would like to order from Amazon click the link under the book at the right.

Never for the sake of “peace and quiet” deny your own experience or convictions. – Dag Hammarskjold, Statesmen and Noble Peace Prize winner

In the next post, I’ll go over the first characteristic ” Character”… hmmmmm….. wonder what everyone has to say about that one?
